Twin Lakes

For winning The Attendance Prize, we went to Twin Lakes. We had an amazing time and even the weather was kind to us. Unfortunately the water areas weren’t open so we’re hoping to win the prize again and go there in the summer!

Year 5 Science Trip

We had an amazing trip at Warwick University. Starting in the brand new lecture theatre, we were treated to a range of chemistry experiments ably demonstrated by Nick. Look at the link to see some of them in action.

After this, we split off into groups to interview one of the university ambassadors.

The afternoon was spent on a nature trail around the university campus, which was humungous!

A great day was had by all. If you want to find out any more about our visit, then why not ask anyone in Year 5?

5JS At The Butterfly Farm

We had a great time at The Butterfly Farm at Stratford today. We went there for the Engage part of our new topic ‘Beast Creator’. After listening and learning losts of facts about butterflies, vertebrates and invertebrates, metamorphosis and life cycles we let off some of our energy at the adventure playground.

Year 5 at Blakesley Hall

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Year 5 visited Blakesley Hall as part of our Princes, Peasants and Pestilence topic. We learned lots about the house and the Tudor way of life. Some of us got to dress up as a range of rich and poor people from 400 years ago.

Would you have liked to live at Blakesley Hall during Tudor Times?

Would you want to be rich or poor?

Check Blakesley Hall website to find out what’s going on just up the road.

Year 5 National Forest Day 4

Today was spent kata-canoeing and go-karting in the morning. In the afternoon we did some team building involving sack racing , spent time in a maze and went back through the barefoot walk before ending the day on the adventure playground. At last the weather was hot and sunny and we managed to stay dry apart from those of us who got over exciting on the barefoot walk!

Year 5 National Forest Day 3

Due to technical difficulties, the number of photos will be reduced over the next few days. Hopefully normal service will be resumed at the weekend when I can get to a normal computer.

Today was spent doing archery and building more substantial shelters. In the afternoon we went around high and low rope courses, had a go on the climbing wall and best of all, went down a huge zip wire.

Gangsta Granny

Year 5 were really lucky to go and see Gangsta Granny by David Walliams at the Alexandra theatre in town. It was hilarious and really clever how they designed the props and scenery.

Now we want to read more books by David Walliams and visit the theatre more often.

Which part did you like best?

Villa Park

On Thursday Year 5 spent the day at Villa Park. Despite a lot of us supporting different teams, we had a great day. We spent the morning in The Academy, where we were split into  7 different European teams. Each team played 6 games, with bonus points awarded for being ready and respectful. England and Spain finished equal first so played in the final where no goals were scored. The winners were decided with a sudden death penalty competition. After 5 pens each, Spain were the eventual winners.

In the afternoon we were given a tour of the ground, where we visited the players lounge, both home and away dressing rooms, the media room and finally the tunnel onto the pitch.

Everyone was impeccably behaved and had an amazing time. St Andrews next?
