Hereis a robot we made in this cool iPad app called Robots by tiny bop
A few weeks ago 1A won the carrot afternoon prize. We chose to go to the park and then we bought popcorn and snacks from
1A have been working hard to be courteous and respectful so that they can earn as many CARROT tokens as they can.
Last week our hard work paid off and we won the Friday treat.
We decided to go to the park for the afternoon. It was so much fun to go and play in the playground.
Then we went over to 2ms and bought ourselves some snacks. Yummy!!
Welcome to 1A
I thought this year’s blogging journey by thinking back to July when RF became 1A for the day. Everyone was very excited to be visiting their new classrooms for the morning.
The RF penguins came over to 1A. Everyone was well behaved and told Miss Ryan and I lots of interesting things about themselves.
They wrote down all the new things that they would like to see in their classroom in September and had a chance to look around.
Finally they did some arts and crafts ready for a display.
And how they have grown this half term. This week we will be sharing some of the things that we have learnt since we made the leap across the corridor to 1A
This time last week we were on our way to the National Space Centre in Leicester.
We had a great time exploring and learning about space as part of our ILP topic, Moon Zoom.
First we went in the Planetarium and watched a 3D film about astronauts. we learnt about all the things that Chad the astronaut needs to do to stay safe in Space.
Then we saw astronaut suits from different times in history and there was even one for a dog!
There were loads of things to explore and we learnt lots of new things.
Kion dressed up as an astronaut in a space suit and Hamza dressed up as a control man.
Before our visit we really wanted to find out how astronauts go to the toilet.
We found a space toilet and read that astronauts have to make sure they strap themselves down so that they don’t float away!
Then we climbed up the rocket tower and saw the 42m rocket. It was amazing!
Some children even became astronauts and drifted off into space.
Then we went to find out more about the planets and there were huge models. We looked at each planet through a telescope, checked how much we weigh on each planet and tested how heavy a tin of beans would be on Mars.
It was such a shame that we had to come back to school so soon because there was loads more that we wanted to see.
We would love to go back again!
Today we had a great day sharing books and developing our love of reading!
Some of us went down to share books with the children in Nursery.
We also did the book token competition and can’t wait to see if anyone in our class has won. We listened to stories as a class and then talked about our favourite part of each book.
Finally, we went to the hall to share our costumes with the rest of the school. it was amazing to see a whole school full of book characters, even the teachers!
Skye and Daniel won the best costume prizes!
They were very creative with their costumes.
What an amazing day!
We certainly do love reading in 1A!
We were very excited last Monday to welcome back a special little boy to 1A.
Maks is back!
As most of you are aware Maks has been very poorly recently, but he is now able to come back to school to spend some time with us.
We couldn’t wait to ask him lots of questions and fill him in about all the things that he had missed whilst he had been away.
Then we celebrated with cake and biscuits.
On Friday we went outside dressed as superheroes (stay tuned for the next blog post about that) to take part in a sponsored skip to raise money for Maks and his family.
Don’t forget to bring in your sponsorship forms today money for a good cause!
We were so excited to have finally won the Carrot afternoon for the first time this term last Friday.
We decided to have a fun filled afternoon with lots of different activities.
First we decorated the classroom in preparation for Maks coming back to school. We were so excited and couldn’t wait to see him!
Then we got out lots of new games and played on the IPADs
We also got the chance to go and play in the Reception playground whilst they were away at the theatre.
Despite the cold weather we had so much fun!
We are going to try extra hard to show courtesy and respect around school so that we can have another fun filled afternoon.
