In maths Nursery have been learning all about long and short things. Last week Miss Fensome and some of the children found some really long pieces of string that went from one side of the classroom to the other. We had so much fun going under and over it!
Nursery enjoyed making porridge last week! It smelled and tasted yummy!
This week some of Nursery took an exciting Christmas trip to Hatton Country World! We looked at all the animals on the farm, played in the big play area that had a massive slide and even got to meet Santa! Santa gave us a magic key to get a present from his workshop and we had so much to choose from!!
Please check the next blog post for pictures!
We had such a fantastic day!
This week Nursery have had lots of fun decorating our new Christmas tree!!!
This week in phonics we have been focusing on loud and quiet sounds in our environment. We have been using sticks to tap objects in our environment to see how loud or quiet the sounds are. We have had so much fun!!!
Today Nursery have enjoyed exploring pumpkins! We cut them open and looked inside to find lots and lot of seeds! We carved them put using spoons and thought about how many seeds might be in the middle, some of us even thought there might be 100!! We thought that if we planted the seeds they might grow into more pumpkins! Tomorrow we are going to have a go at pumpkin tasting! We can’t wait!
Last week in Nursery we started phonics!!! Phonics is going to help with our listening skills whilst we are in Nursery. Our first phonics activity was to go on a listening walk around school to see what we could hear. We all carried our listening ears round to help us to listen! We heard a phone ringing, cars outside, people talking and lots more! We are really enjoying phonics so far!
Afternoon Mursery had lots of fun yesterday mark making with cars and paint. We talked about the different wheels and the different marks they made and watched the colours mix together. We found out that red and blue mix together and make purple. We had so much fun!
One of our more recent interests in Nursery has been washing and cleaning our dolls! We really enjoyed this today and it has been really good for our gross motor skills!!!!
Morning Nursery enjoyed planting pips from an apple this morning, they talked about what they thought the pips might grow into, the counted the pips and planted them in our growing area! We can’t wait to see what they grow into!
In Nursery we have enjoyed printing with Numicon, we have explored patterns, numbers and shapes and even got messy at the same time!
